Set it up in three steps

  1. Connect the printer by USB, or to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC.
  2. If Windows has not set it up by itself, install the full driver for your model from HP’s support site.
  3. Open Scan & Print and pick the printer from the scanner list. Network models that support eSCL (AirScan) usually appear even without a driver.

  2. Add it in System Settings › Printers & Scanners. Recent HP models work with the scanning support built into macOS; for older ones, HP Easy Start installs HP’s driver.
  3. Open Scan & Print and pick the printer from the scanner list. If Image Capture can see it, so can Scan & Print.
